The West Warwick Housing Authority owns and manages 250 Elderly Housing Units in two high rise buildings as follows:
The West Warwick Manor, Project RI-015-001, 62 Robert St., West Warwick, RI 02893-5080, is a seven-story high rise building that has 126 apartments.
There are 12 two bedroom units, 75 one bedroom units, and 39 studio apartments. The Authority's main administrative offices are also located in the
lobby area of the building.
Clyde Tower, Project RI-015-003, 1021 Main St., West Warwick, RI, is an eleven-story high rise building that has 124 apartments. There are 31 couple
units and 93 single units in the building.
Affordable rent is based on the income of the person or persons to occupy the unit. The Housing Authority also has an annual Flat Rent for each unit
based on a continual survey of the local housing market. The rent includes heat and hot water. At the West Warwick Manor, excess utility charges are
applied monthly for residents who have an air conditioner or other large energy-use appliance. At Clyde Tower, residents receive a utility allowance
that is deducted from the total rent each month and the resident pays his or her electric bill directly to the electric company. The resident is
responsible for contacting and paying Cox Cable or Verizon for any additional services such as telephone, television and internet.
Every unit is Cox Cable and Verizon FIOS ready.
Each building has a laundry room available for personal use by the occupants of the apartments for a nominal fee, generally, 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, 7 days a
week. Other amenities include a Community Room in each building where resident activities take place. Each building has a tenant group or social committee
that coordinates bingo, parties, and other activities. The Maintenance Staff is on site during normal working hours and available 24 hours a day, seven days
a week for emergencies. Maintenance Services are usually free of charge unless the problems are resident-caused damages or beyond normal wear and tear.
Community outreach activities sponsored by the West Warwick Senior Citizens Center take place frequently. Champlin Library has an outreach program available
for interested residents who have difficulty in getting to the library. The buildings are centrally located to the Post Office, banking institutions, medical
services, Senior Center, library, churches, food and convenience shopping services and local restaurants. The RIDE Transportation program is available for all
residents. Local cab companies are available to provide transportation. RIPTA bus stops are located immediately outside the building grounds. On-site
private parking is available for residents.
As of October 1, 2012, we are proud to be smoke free. Outdoor smoking shelters are provided, but smoking is not allowed in the buildings or the grounds.
