The West Warwick Manor, Project RI-015-001, 62 Robert St., West Warwick, RI 02893-5080, is a seven-story high rise building that has 126 apartments. There are 12 two bedroom units, 75 one bedroom units, and 39 studio apartments. The Authority's main administrative offices are also located in the lobby area of the building.
Clyde Tower, Project RI-015-003, 1021 Main St., West Warwick, RI, is an eleven-story high rise building that has 124 apartments. There are 31 couple units and 93 single units in the building.
Affordable rent is based on the income of the person or persons to occupy the unit. The Housing Authority also has an annual Flat Rent for each unit based on a continual survey of the local housing market. The rent includes heat and hot water. At the West Warwick Manor, excess utility charges are applied monthly for residents who have an air conditioner or other large energy-use appliance. At Clyde Tower, residents receive a utility allowance that is deducted from the total rent each month and the resident pays his or her electric bill directly to the electric company. Each unit is Cable TV ready. The resident must contact and pay Cox Cable for cable service. Telephone service is also payable by the resident. The resident may contact the local phone company or Cox Cable for phone service and rates.
Each building has a laundry room available for personal use by the occupants of the apartments for a nominal fee, generally, 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, 7 days a week. Other amenities include a Community Room in each building where resident activities take place. Each building has a tenant group or social committee that coordinates bingo, parties, and other activities. The Maintenance Staff is on site during normal working hours and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for emergencies. Maintenance Services are usually free of charge unless the problems are resident-caused damages or beyond normal wear and tear.
The Kent County Hospital Community Nurse Outreach Program is available on a bi-weekly basis at each site. Community outreach activities sponsored by the West Warwick Senior Citizens Center take place frequently. Champlin Library has an outreach program available for interested residents who have difficulty in getting to the library. The buildings are centrally located to the Post Office, banking institutions, medical services, Senior Center, library, churches, food and convenience shopping services and local restaurants. The RIDE Transportation program, coordinated through the local Senior Center, is available for all residents. Local cab companies are available to provide transportation. RIPTA bus stops are located immediately outside the building grounds. On-site private parking is available for residents.
